| Description | Purity ~95% (SDS-PAGE). Insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) is one of the mitogenic, polypeptide growth factors that belongs to the insulin family, due to its structural and functional similarity to insulin. IGF2 is mainly produced in the liver and several other tissues at certain times. IGF2 expression can be found in many tissues usually with autocrine, paracrine and endocrine functions. IGF2 mainly acts as a growth promoting hormone during gestation, and does so by binding to the tyrosine kinase type I receptor (IGF1R) as well as the IGF2 receptor cation-independent mannose 6-phosphate receptor. Mature IGF2 is highly conserved between human, bovine, and porcine species. Recombinant Human IGF2 is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain of 7.8kD.
