| Product Name | Connexin 45, Mouse (CX45, Gap Junction Alpha 6 Protein, CXA-6) (Control Peptide) |
| Description | A 14 amino acid peptide sequence near the C-terminal, cytoplasmic domain of the mouse Cx45 (2) was used to generate anti-mouse Cx45. A cysteine has been added at the NH2 terminus for coupling to KLH. The mouse Cx45 peptide sequence is 100% homologous in chicken, canine, human and mouse (AA 285-298) Cx45 (4). It has no significant homology with other Connexins. Gap junctions are composed of transmembrane channels that link the cytoplasm of neighboring cells. They differ from other membrane channels since they exist between two cells. Gap junctions are relatively non-specific and allow passive diffusion of small molecules up to 1000 Dalton. The junctions exist in almost all vertebrate and non-vertebrates cells. It is believed that gap junction play an important for intercellular communications and affect growth and differentiation of cells. Gap junctional channel is composed of a hemichannel (connexon) in the cell membrane of one cell joined in mirror symmetry with a connexon in the oppo |
