| Product Name | Glutathione S-transferase alpha 1, Recombinant, Human, aa1-222 (GSTA1, GST2, GSTA1-1, GTH1) |
| Description | Purity ~90% (SDS-PAGE). Glutathione S-transferase A1 in humans is encoded by the GSTA1 gene. Cytosolic and membrane-bound forms of glutathione S-transferase are encoded by two distinct supergene families. These enzymes function in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds, including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins and products of oxidative stress, by conjugation with glutathione. The genes encoding these enzymes are known to be highly polymorphic. GSTA1 protects the cells from reactive oxygen species and is highly expressed in liver. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-222 from human GSTA1, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~25.6kD (222aa, aa1-222) Specific Activity: 5-8units/mg, defined as the amount of enzyme that conjugates 1.0umole of 1-chloro-2, 4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB) with reduced glutathione/minute at pH 6.5 at 25°C.
