Description | Novel marker for prostate and breast cancer: Tubulin is involved in regulation of cytoskeletal structure relating to cell differentiation, invasion and metastasis in cancer. High expression levels of tubulin and glu-tubulin, in which the C-terminal tyrosine of a-tubulin is removed, have been described in a variety of human malignant tumors. Over-expression has been reported by immunohistochemical staining in breast cancer, prostate cancer and neuroblastomas. Glu-tubulin represents a strong selective expression for cancer cells and may be usefull to immunohistochemically identify and quantify human breast and prostate cancer. Detects also cilia of Paramecium. |
