Description | Useful Marker for normal neuroendocrine cells and neuroendocrine tumors: Synaptophysin is a most reliable and specific marker molecule for normal and neoplastic neuroendocrine cells in the nerveous system. Synaptophysin 1 is a membrane glycoprotein of synaptic vesicles that is ubiquitously expressed in all neurons and in many endocrine cells. It forms a complex with dynamin at high Ca2+ concentration suggesting an involvement in synaptic vesicle endocytosis. |
Immunogen | Electrophoretically purified synaptophysin. Epitope: Reacts with cytoplasmic tail of synaptophysin 1, no cross-reactivity to other synaptophysins. |
