| Product Name | Histone H4, acetylated, aa2-19 (Lys5, Lys8, Lys12, Lys16) |
| Description | Purity ~90% (HPLC). Sequence: AGGACKGGACKGMGACKVGAACKRHSC, Residues 2-19 (Ac K5-K8-K12-K16), corresponding to the N-terminal sequence of Tetrahymena Histone H4. The four lysine residues are acetylated. The acetylation of lysine residues in core histones is thought to play a role in the activation of gene transcription. The neutralization of the histone's basic charge reduces its affinity for DNA and relaxes or opens the chromatin, which is believed to facilitate the access of transcription regulators to the promoter region of genes. Application(s): Dot blot assay, Peptide Competition or as a negative control for HAT assays. |
