It up-regulates the DJ-1 protein and protects neurons in cell culture and in animal models of Parkinson Disease (PD). Recent studies by Kalipada Pahan et al (JBC in Press, Feb. 12th, 2013) showed, that Sodium 4-Phenylbutyrate may protect memory and prevent the progression of Alzheimer's Disease. |
