| Product Name | Visfatin, Recombinant, Human (NAMPT, PBEF, PBEF1) |
| Description | Purity ~98% (SDS-PAGE, HPLC). Visfatin is a putative cytokine originally identified as PBEF (Pre-B cell-enhancing factor), subsequently determined to be a nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) enzyme and member of the NAPRTase family, involved in catalyzing the biosynthesis of NAD from nicotinamide. Visfatin is highly expressed in bone marrow, muscle and liver tissue and increases in expression in response to endotoxin, in amniotic epithelial cells following lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation, and during the activation of T and B cells, dendritic cells and macrophages, suggesting a role in inflammatory processes. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to 465aa from human Visfatin, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~52.5kD (465aa residues). Biological Activity: The ED-50 was determined by the dose-dependant proliferation of the RPMI 8226 cells. The expected ED-50 for this effect is 15-20ng/ml. Applications: Suitable for use in Functional Assays. |
