The enzyme is involved in cellular processes such as apoptosis, membrane trafficking, iron metabolism and nuclear translocation. GAPDH (housekeeping gene) expression is stable and constitutive. Deregulation of GAPDH activity is associated with abnormal cell proliferation and carcinogenesis.
