| Description | Vancomycin Antibody LS-C56644. Recognizes vancomycin, a glycopeptide antibiotic derived from the actinobacterium Amycolatopsis orientalis that acts by inhibiting cell wall biosynthesis and altering the permeability of the bacterial cell membrane. Vancomycin is regarded as an antibiotic of last resort as in high doses it can be toxic to the ears and kidneys, whilst in low doses hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Has been used for the development of a competitive ELISA for the detection of vancomycin in protein containing samples. |
